Muslim Woman Sues Over “Hurt Feelings” And Wins
A Muslim woman, Bushra Noah, applied for a junior stylist position at a alternative hair style salon. She made it clear to the owner, Sarah Desrosiers, that she would not be removing her head scarf for the job. Sarah thought this would be a bad fit for numerous different reasons most tangible of which it’s a basic job requirement of any hairdresser that their hair provide clients with a showcase of different looks.

“For a year, Sarah has been facing financial ruin, due to a compensation claim for £34,000 brought by Bushra, 19, who has maintained she is due that figure after being turned down for a job at the Wedge salon in London’s King’s Cross. A UK tribunal ruled this week that while Bushra’s claim of direct discrimination failed, her claim for indirect discrimination had succeeded,” and Bushra was consquently awarded £4000.
She was never even an employee of the hair salon. If European Courts are going to start awarding judgements to people who have their “feelings hurt” by others in the course of business this is going to have a massive domino effect within the business community. Who cares if her feelings are hurt? My feelings were hurt when I read this article am I now entitled to compensation from the publication Mail Online as it didn’t live up to my expectation? This is madness!
