“Senate Bows To Bush”
I caught this article on Yahoo and just started laughing at the title. “Senate Bows to Bush, Approves Surveillance Bill.” So here we have Yahoo telling us that Bush again is getting its way, overcoming the good Democrats in Congress and curtailing our rights. Is this not what they are saying? Bush must be stronger then them if they are “bowing” to him. Emperor Bush.

I could have sworn the Democrats came into Congress promising change. Here’s just a few example of Democratic rhetoric from their Leader Nancy Pelosi. “We must draw clear distinctions between our vision of the future and the extreme policies put forward by the Republicans. We cannot allow Republicans to pretend they share our values and then legislate against those values without consequence.” Inspiring huh! There’s more, although I’ll cut it short here, “protecting America from terrorism requires more than just resolve, it requires a plan. As we have seen in Iraq, planning is not the Bush Administration’s strong suit.” I guess this includes ”Bowing” to the widly popular Bush Administration when they plan to allow the telecoms to have immunity.
We should take a look at what the leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, since this after all happen in the Senate, has to say. Senator Reid has always been a staunch liberal and a loud voice against this administration and that’s fine what bothers me is when he says one thing yet does another. During the Republicans reign in Congress Reid quipped, “so the next thing I assume I’ll be hearing from Republicans, they want to change rules some way, as they do on the House when you get a problem with with ethics they just change the rules.” Well now it seems Harry is “bowing” to a rule change. Now don’t get me wrong Republicans have been just as guilty but it wouldn’t be fair of me to just bow to one side.

Here’s the facts. The democrats control BOTH houses of Congress. Bush cannot pass a bill without their say so. Bush is highly unpopular and has yet to appeal to the public for this cause specific. So how does the Senate bow to Bush? I just don’t get it. It’s pretty obvious the Democrats are on the same page with this administration.
