Voting Begins In Ohio
A full 36 days before the election voting has begun in Ohio. Ohio is one of the 10-15 key pivotal states that will decide this historic election.
It would be interesting to get an exit poll from the early results. The, “most recent state polls show a dead heat; others give McCain an edge. National surveys show Obama slightly ahead if not more. The disparity underscores the difficulty Obama is having in closing the deal in this pivotal state. He’s a first-term senator from Chicago with a liberal voting record and would be the country’s first black president.”
The Vice Presidential debate, which many experts are saying could make or break the coming election, is this Thursday evening. It would be interesting to get before and after poll results from Ohio to see how much the impending debate will affect the November, or in the case the October, election. Palin, admittedly, hasn’t done the GOP ticket any favors lately. Starting with her disastrous interview on CBS with Katie Couric where Governor Palin didn’t seem to have a handle on basic talking points. This has been coupled with her campaigns concerted effort to hide her from the general media causing even critics in her own party to start questioning her selection. Chief among her detractors President Bush’s former speech writer and conservative David Frum recently was quoted saying, “I think she has pretty thoroughly — and probably irretrievably — proven that she is not up to the job of being president of the United States,”
The McCain campaign is now putting significant time and resources into preparing Palin for Thursday evenings debate. “The amount of time and staff power being devoted to this was evidence of concern among Mr. McCain’s associates that Ms. Palin’s early triumphs — a well-received convention speech, her drawing of big crowds — have been overtaken by a series of setbacks, creating higher stakes for her in the debate Thursday with the Democratic nominee for vice president, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware.”
However, history has shown that the lower end of the ticket typically doesn’t have a significant impact on the overall election but the presence of an incompetent running mate is not going to do anybody, except the opposition, any favors.
