Bay to Breakers is Over!

In a sad turn of events the long running Bay-to-Breakers event, in San Francisco, has come to an end; At least the fun part of it.  There will still be the 12k run but none of the debauchery.  Personally I don’t see how you can have one without the other but that is exactly what San Francisco is trying to do.

For the past half century Bay-to-Breakers has grown from a small race to a massive 100k plus keg party that looks more like a nude, extravagant, Halloween on wheels than an actual race.

“For 97 years the race has traversed San Francisco — most recently trailed by thousands of intoxicated (and often naked) participants pushing festive keg-toting floats.  It’s one of those only-in-San Francisco events that attracts up to 100,000 participants. But probably not any longer. This year, there will be a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and all floats, according to a news release from sponsor ING.”

Now where are dorks like this going to go for fun?

An ode to B2B

Bay-to-Breakers we will miss you so

Bay-to-Breakers why do you have to go

You welcomed us with open arms

Naked, drunk, we caused no harm

Floats we made and juice we drank

Many of us ended up in the tank

Tears we will cry now that you are gone

You will live forever as I toke from this bong.

All Good Things Must Come To An End

Jay Leno in hot legal water

Tonight Show host, avid car collector and enthusiast, Jay Leno, may have let his hobby get the best of him. The New York Post has reported that Jay Leno and a Manhattan parking-garage executive have been caught up in a conspiracy to swindle an elderly Macy’s heir, John Straus, out of two pricey cars. Fine with me, Macy’s has been ripping me off for the better part of a decade, but I would rather see Obama get in there and “spread the wealth,” than Jay get another car.  Where’s he parking all these, his chin?

“Dennis Ricca (the parking garage exec), 55, shot himself in the head with his registered 9 mm pistol last Friday while sitting in a pickup truck outside his Greenwood Lake retreat in upstate Orange County, a law-enforcement source said.”

“Leno ended up with one of the rare vehicles – an ultra-rare 1931 Duesenberg Model J valued at $1.2 million.”

“Straus for decades had kept his Duesenberg and Rolls at Windsor Garage. In 2005, the garage notified Straus that his account was massively in arrears and that the cars would be auctioned off if he didn’t pay the more than $20,000 he owed. Straus – who was in his 80s and suffering from dementia – sent a check. But the garage allegedly did a bait-and-switch and applied the payments to arrears he owed for two far less valuable cars he was keeping in another facility owned by GMC. The garage then purportedly held sham “public” auctions for the cars, with its corporate alter ego getting the Duesenberg for a $0 bid and the Rolls for an unknown amount, the suit says. In December 2005, the company sold the Duesenberg to Leno – who’d been lusting after it for years – for $180,000.”

More of Jay’s cars.  Trust me this guy can afford to pay full price.

Come on Leno.  It’s bad enough we have to listen to your predictable nightly shtick, while we wait for you to abdicate your late night throne to Conan, you’re now in the business of ripping off old people for cars.

This is Madness.  Just kidding, this is kind of lame, but it would be cool to see Leno do standup from jail.
