A Response To A Moron

I’ve written this blog on and off for over a year now and I’ve gotten hundreds of hate mail responses to different posts. Usually I write the author back to explain my point-of-view a little more thoroughly however in this case this guy is begging to be made an example of.

Here are Bryan the moron’s comments:
Bryan { 04.24.09 at 3:00 pm }

I love it, this article says they were asked to cover up all signs and symbols there….true. This website does NOT tell you that it had nothing to do with religious symbols, they wanted ALL signs and symbols removed for his normal backdrop of flags and a black background, like he does all the time, no matter where he speaks. If that was not bad enough, the writer of this drivel only giving you half the story, then askes you to “put that aside for a moment” and goes on a rant about a visit to a mosque which has NOTHING to do with the story…and never does go back to the White House explanation that was brushed aside to consider the mosque story. Anyone, like Anna Maria, who sucked right up to the teet of this obviously slanted, right wing-nut fringe “article” really need to go back to skool. And Anna has the nerve to call Obama supporters ignorant…..err, scuze me ignorent….or is it ig-nant?? Jesus Christ and Holy Cow some Amerikans are so gullible. For those of you that need assistance, gullible means you are a “sucker” incapable of critical thinking, taking one source as gospel and running with it.

Let’s first start with the fact that he spells his name with that insufferable Y in Bryan. This immediately discredits his take. However, for shits and giggles, let’s continue to evaluate the content of his comments.

He says that, “they (the White House) wanted ALL signs and symbols removed for his normal backdrop of flags and a black background, like he does all the time, no matter where he speaks.” OK, let’s examine this claim. All one needs to do is a simple search under President Obama Speeches and Google turns up literally dozens of pictures, like the one below, that run counter to this Mensa winners claim and he’s only 100 days or so into office.

Obama does not have a standardized podium ESPECIALLY when he addresses private audiences and when he visits foreign countries like the picture shows below. Thus the relevancy of my comparison to Barack’s visit to the Mosque and his speech in front of a Catholic audience.

Continuing on his blog bash Bryan states that it’s a bad thing that I, “rant about a visit to a mosque which has NOTHING to do with the story.” As previously described there is an actual linkage between the two, as they are both non political events. The point here is he would have found this out or known if he wasn’t blindy biased one way or another.

This is actually a point I’ve been wanting to make for some time now. Essentially his intellectual dishonestly is the problem with true ideologues. My sense is that Byran is a liberal based simply on the fact that all comments on this article espouse a response from the far Right or Left and oh yes, his facts are wrong.

The only redeeming quality in his comments is at the end of his pissy diatribe. Here he salvages some grace by stating that, “gullible means you are a “sucker” incapable of critical thinking, taking one source as gospel and running with it.”

He’s actually unwittingly a man of similiar thought though no doubt poorer taste. What he’s trying to tell me, although making a half ass attempt at it, is that the essential problem with politics is the tendency towards two fringe points of view.

This isn’t surprising because understanding ONLY two sides of an issue is marketable and simple. We elect officials to represent us because we do not have time to study all the relevant issues, hold a job, and live a normal life. The media and political parties on both sides understand this and whittle down the arguments into two neat, polar opposites because we don’t have time to study the gray area (nor do most of us care). Thus political parties produce John Kerry’s and George Bush’s when it’s so obvious these are not qualified men and not the leaders when NEED.

My point is what if absolute consistency on any issue from the right or the left, Socialism to Capitalism, from the religiously devout to secular is an indication of mediocre intelligence and lack of intellectual purity? Then that would make Washington a den of mediocrity and Bryan incapable of intellectual honesty.

The Obama Administration allows different backgrounds based on where he’s speaking at hence my reasoning for questioning the physical covering of a religious symbol at a religious univeristy where he accepted the invitation to speak. Obama’s speech was not an address to Congress, the media, or the American people this was an address to a private, religious audience (or at least one can assume a highly religious audience) therefore IT IS surprising that his office has purposely chosen to cover the symbol for Christ.

Obama didn’t know about the AIG bonuses

Sources in the Obama administration Tuesday said that despite previous media reports administration officials did not know until a couple weeks ago that the officials of the controversial AIG Financial Product Division were set to receive $165 million in bonuses on March 13. It wasn’t until Thursday, March 5, 2009, administration sources told ABC News, that officials of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York informed officials of the Treasury Department of the full extent of the $165 million in bonuses pending for the controversial Financial Products Subsidiary. This was three days after the Obama administration had already announced a new commitment of an additional $30 billion for AIG.

Ah, now this is Change We Can Believe In

HAHAHA!  Really? You mean to tell me that our President, our Administration, is so inept they didn’t ask AIG if they were going to pay executive bonuses with the money we gave them?  You really don’t even have to ask you TELL them that they cannot give this money as bonuses and are prohibited from doing so.  Are we supposed to believe this story? Especially after the fall out from the bonuses given to the Freddie/Fannie executives you would have thought that they would be wise enough to ask about this.  What a joke.  I don’t know what’s worse believing them that they didn’t ask, which means they have NO business running this country as they are too stupid not to ask basic questions or if you don’t believe them then they lied and they are continuing to lie.

Maybe, just maybe Obama looked the other way on the AIG bonuses because, “Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org.”

Who’s Winning The Electoral College Vote?

As Al Gore can attest to the only thing that matters in Presidential Elections is the electoral vote.  Ignore popular polls as they don’t mean jack.  Contrary to popular belief we are NOT a democracy, we are a Republic, we do not directly elect our President. Our Federal electoral college system was put in place to give smaller states some say and cloat in the process of electing our “leader.”  Now that we’re aware that we don’t live in a direct democracy let’s examine who is really winning this election.

As it stands now Barack Obama has a slight electoral lead over John McCain but the coming debates, the financial crisis and any unforseen swift boat like attacks against either candidate can quickly change the landscape of this lead as 18% of current voters are undecided or willing to change their vote.

So who’s going to win?

“Eight states that are still considered tossups: perennial powerhouses Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, Western targets Colorado and Nevada, Wisconsin in the Midwest, traditional swing state New Hampshire and newly competitive Virginia.”  Other possible toss up states include, “Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa and New Mexico are currently leaning toward Obama, while Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina are leaning toward McCain.

Here’s a graphical breakdown of how the race is currently trending.

Ok, so we really don’t know who is winning, yet.  Stay tuned.

Obama vs. Europe

Obama’s stance on “unconditional” negotiations with Iran is not making the democratic nominee any friends in Europe.  Obama has already backed off his initial statements early in the campaign cycle when he accounced, “that he’d seek unconditional talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Later, he changed that to talks with “appropriate Iranian leaders” and tried to skirt the “unconditional” bit of his pledge by saying that some “preparatory work” might be needed before he’d sit with an Iranian interlocutor.”

Obama’s impulsive foreign policy stance with Iran is having the effect of pulling the proverbial rug out from under the feet of the European leaders who have been working with the current administration to put up a unified front against Iran’s goals enriching uranium.  Obama’s bold stance of “dropping a unanimous Security Council condition would simply be interpreted by Iran and America’s allies as unconditional surrender and America’s friends would view this as confirmation of America’s basic unreliability,” Heisbourg, one of Europe’s leading strategic analysts, told The Washington Post – “a hell of a way to start a presidential term.”

So is this another issue that Obama will flip flop on or will he stay the course?  Going it alone has obviously proven disasterous for the Bush Administration which is why after several years of failing in foreign policy arena, with “rogue” nations, they decided to work with our allies and achieve a consesus before moving forward.  If Obama becomes President I hope he does the same.

Is going out on our own, alone, the kind of “Change” we’d “Hoped” for?

Students getting cash for passing AP tests.  This is odd.  So now if youpass the High School AP tests you don’t have to take that Freshman level class in college thus saving you not only the time that the class would have taken up but also the money the class would have cost (this is called opportunity cost).  So why are we paying students to be students?  If this goes through the State of California owes me a few hundred.

Facebook fatigue? I am still wiped out from MySpace.

Anybody else think it was a conflict of interest that an ex-Clinton staffer, current smurf, George Stephanwhatever was moderating the debate?  Obama clearly lost the debate and looked particularly bad doing it.  Bottom line he couldn’t answer straight questions.   Americans by and large are tired of this sort of political maneuvering and double talk.  The last two administrations have been rife with it.  Aside from all that what was with all the close ups of Chelsea Clinton? Seems biased to me.  I counted over 8 close ups.

This “turning of the tide” is going to be key for a McCain victory.  He is going to need to win back a lot of disenfranchised Republicans.

Funny Toilet Signs from around the world.
